I just implemented the gradient descent algorithm used to do most of the position estimating in the GPS receiver for a course I am taking (or at least a slightly simplified version of it; we are using synthetic data that simplifies the problem ever so slightly); I&#039;ll post the paper and the code on my website if you&#039;re interested.
Most GPS receivers (probably even your bluetooth receiver, using serial over Bluetooth) output raw data in a standard format (NEMA); I&#039;d imagine it would be pretty trivial to implement the position estimating algorithm with all of the tricks given a weekend and a lot of coffee.</description>

		<description>I was always curious why altitude readings always seem to lack the accuracy of the Lat/Lon readings. Perhaps it&#039;s hardware-related, or it&#039;s intentional, or it was just a fluke that it said my boat was 300 feet below sea level.</description>
