Getting Started With JeraWorks
Using JeraWorks
Creating and manipulating topics.
- Use ctrl-enter to create a new topic at the same level as the previous topic.
- Use ctrl-R to create a new topic one level to the right of the previous topic.
- Use ctrl-L to create a new topic one level to the left of the previous topic.
- Use ctrl-[ to shift the currently selected topic left.
- Use ctrl-] to shift the currently selected topic right.
Cutting and pasting
- Right now there's no gesture to distinguish between selecting a topic and
selecting text within the topic. This will change.
- In the meantime, use "Cut Branch", "Copy Branch", and "Paste Branch" menu
items from the Edit menu to cut, copy and paste topic items.
- "Cut", "Copy" and "Paste" for text aren't hooked up yet. In the meantime,
use "Ctrl-X", "Ctrl-C", and "Ctrl-V".
Debugging
- If something goes wrong, a window called "JeraWorks Console" will pop up. This can be quite disconcerting if you're in mid-drag, for example.
- To keep the console window from popping up at inoportune times, choose "Display Console" to show the console, and then bring the main JeraWorks window to the front again. Any error messages will still be logged to the console, but the window won't pop up an disturb you.
- If you get an error message on the console, please take the following steps:
- Choose "Dump System Properties" from the Debug menu. This will provide
me with information about the environment JeraWorks is running under.
- Exit JeraWorks as gracefully as possible. In order of grace, you can try:
- Choose "Quit" from the File menu, (or close the JeraWorks Document window).
- Close the JeraWorks console window, and answer "Yes" when asked "Force
quit? (Changes will be lost!)".
- Forcing the application to exit via your platform's task manager, "Close
Program", or "Force Quit" dialog.
- Three finger salute (ctrl-alt-delete or command-ctrl-power).
- Cutting the power.
- In the folder JeraWorks was installed into (such as C:\Program Files\JeraWorks,
or Hard Disk:Applications:JeraWorks) there should be a file called JeraWorksConsole.txt.
Mail this file to jw-bugs@jera.com, along with a description of what you
were doing and what happened when the error occurred.
